Ethiopian frankincense usually comes from Boswellia papyrifera and is traditionally used for incense, in natural medicine, and aromatherapy. Its lemony-resinous scent is traditionally described as clarifying and concentrating.
Internally, it is used to alleviate chronic inflammation (e.g., arthritis, intestinal diseases) and to strengthen the respiratory system.
Externally, it is traditionally used in ointments or oils, for example for the care of skin irritations, for the soothing massage of stressed joints or for supportive skin care.
It contains a particularly high amount of boswellic acid, which is responsible for its effect.
